A reprint of the popular bestseller with a film design.
Coming from a troubled home and a bad school, Johannes manages to get into one of Tallinn’s elite schools, but soon discovers that his classmates have forcefully reduced him to the status of an outcast. When the three main facets of Johannes’ life pyramid – home, friends and school – collapse, he realizes that he has reached zero. So he develops a scheme for achieving popularity and acceptance, and begins to vigorously implement it despite the pressures of the past and the blows of the present.
Margus Karu’s first novel “Nullpunkt” immediately rose to the top of the bestseller lists in the spring of 2010 upon its publication, and that same autumn it was included in the list of recommended school literature, from where it has now also made its way into basic school literature textbooks. At the end of 2010, the novel was awarded the Betti Alver Literary Award.
A production based on the material from "Nullpunkti" was completed in 2011 at the Rakvere Theatre, and a feature film and six-part television series will be released at the end of 2014 as a collaboration between the film studio Allfilm and the Estonian Public Broadcasting. The series is directed by Mihkel Ulk, written by Margit Keerdo-Dawson, and Johannes is played by Märt Pius.
