Sporditähed 2009. Estonian athletes of the year 2009

The book summarizes the brightest events of the 2009 sports year. The book was compiled by the well-known sports journalist Gunnar Press.

Today's top sport is hard work – sweat and toil, injury and pain, self-discipline and suffering. Developing the mind, mobilizing the will and keeping the soul in balance are no easier than physical exertion. The justification and reward for such strenuous effort are the tears of joy that accompany victory, the raising of the blue-black-and-white flag, the love and gratitude of the people. Among the awards of over 100 title competitions won by Estonian athletes in 2009, the world championship gold medal won by our national hero Andrus Veerpalu in Liberec shone brightest.
