Küpsete pirnide kuma - Monica-Linde Klemet

Terje leaves the city to fulfill a long-held dream: to move to the countryside. In a small village, she encounters a diverse group of people, and tense interpersonal relationships begin to form with unexpected speed. Life in an old house strangely evokes memories of the fate of a family that lived there nearly half a century ago—a history that indirectly touches upon Terje’s own life. *The Glow of Ripe Pears* (*Küpsete pirnide kuma*) is a novel about a young person’s search for self and her desire to fit into a community. The author has created a vivid yet believable cast of characters—among whom the local country folk stand out in a particularly positive light—and the protagonist is easy to relate to and empathize with. There are no simple solutions in life; while Terje may not yet perceive a happy ending to her own story, her journey shows clear progress, leaving the door open for a happy conclusion somewhere down the line. The notions of "listening to yourself" and "finding your own path" come across not as clichés, but as universal and necessary reminders. The book’s overall atmosphere and poetic descriptions of nature lend it a touch of magic. Monica-Linde Klemet (born 1984) studied Estonian philology and teaches Estonian as a foreign language. *The Glow of Ripe Pears* is her debut novel.
