Aadu Hindi's first novel, "Leprosy", attracted attention with its extraordinary subject matter and novel literary style.
During Aadu Hindi's childhood and youth, her family lived in constant fear of the then incurable disease of leprosy. The fear of the disease also caused worry and anguish in Aadu Hindi's home. Audaku and Surnuaiamägi were located a few kilometers apart. A. Hindi's paternal grandmother's brother and sister-in-law were diagnosed with leprosy in 1905 and were placed in Audaku, where they died.
Aadu Hindi's liberation from the fear of the disease occurred gradually, after writing her first novel, "Leprosy".
