Minu Ukraina - Jaanika Merilo

“How did you end up in Ukraine?” I am often asked, and I will start by talking about that day in November when I was born to an Estonian mother and a Ukrainian father in the Tartu Toomemäe Maternity Hospital. Although all my childhood summers were spent in Ukraine, I would never have believed the fortune teller’s story that the twists and turns of life would take me to Ukraine again and again as an adult. “Me and state reforms!” I would have simply laughed and thought that the fortune teller with his cards knew nothing about life. But life deals its cards unexpectedly, and so I have constantly ended up in Ukraine, getting an incredible opportunity to contribute to the birth of my new Ukraine with digital reforms. Through laughter and tears, through criticism and praise, but always and always with love. My Ukraine is a Land of Miracles and Promises
