Author of works of mythology and folklore, Michael Scott is one of Ireland's most successful writers. The old master of fantasy, science fiction, horror and folklore was called the "Fantasy King of these islands" by the Irish Times. "The Witch" is the third book in the Immortal Nicholas Flamel mystery series.

Pursuing Nicholas Flamel and Sophie and Josh Newman, Doctor John Dee has turned the town upside down. The streets of Paris are in ruins, Notre Dame destroyed, Count Saint-Germain's home razed to the ground. Dee has the book of Abraham the Mage, but it is missing the last two pages that the Black Suits need to perform the Last Summons. Without them, the spell cannot be cast, and Dee knows very well that the Black Suits will not rest until they are back in power and the human race is destroyed - or does she?
Nicholas Flamel's heart nearly broke as he watched his beloved Paris crumble before his eyes. Dee and Machiavelli destroyed the city, but Flamel had a role to play in it too. Sophie and Josh Newman prove more and more that they are the legendary twins, and Flamel must protect them and the pages of the Codex from the Black Suits.
But with each passing day, Nicholas becomes weaker and weaker. Perenelle is still imprisoned on Alcatraz, and now that Scatty is gone, they are no longer safe. All they have is Clarent - the twin sword Excalibur. However, Clarent's power is unprecedented, and the evil that resides in the weapon makes it impossible to wield it without the sword's darkness seeping into its wielder.
If Nicholas wants to win Dee over, he needs to find someone to teach Josh and Sophie the third element magic - water magic. The only one who could do that is Gilgamesh, and he is completely insane.
