Lady Death hires L.A.'s "best" private detective Nick Belane to track down the greatest French writer, Celine. Belane finds himself in strange, even fantastical situations and has to deal with a lot of thugs, aliens threatening humanity, and the mysterious Red Sparrow.

"The pulp will probably ruin my already small reputation, but it won't hurt me one bit, I had fun writing it." This detective novel, teetering on the edge of absurdity, was Charles Bukowski's last work. He finished the book only shortly before his death.

Of German origin, Charles Bukowski (1920-1994), who lived in Los Angeles almost his entire life, is one of the world's most famous writers. In America, for example, more than 40 of his books are constantly on sale.

The key to Bukowski's popularity is his unadorned style, strikingly apt sentences, and timeless themes.
