*Grandma Didn’t Like Dying* is a cruel, beautiful, sharply witty, and genuinely sad family saga spanning three generations. Within their home, they all strive tirelessly to find personal happiness, yet true love has always eluded them—they have never experienced it. Each chapter presents a distinct story—a sliver of life, a fragment of an ironic, melancholic, and powerful narrative. Together, these pieces form a remarkable canvas depicting the lives of the residents of a small mining village in Eastern Ukraine. Pavel Belyansky was born in 1977 into a military family in the village of "Shahta No. 9" (Mine No. 9), located in the Perevalsk district of the Luhansk region, Ukraine. He studied chemical technology, worked in sales, and served as a freelance correspondent for various newspapers. Writing under the pseudonym "Pasteet," Belyansky has published numerous books and won several literary competitions; his body of work includes over a hundred short stories and two novels. Through his professional life, he has encountered a wide array of people, learning about their fates, personal histories, and recollections. These concise glimpses into life and death—covering everything from all-conquering love and trivial pursuits to grievances and acts of forgiveness—are sure to leave a lasting impression on every reader. Among Belyansky’s best-known works are *The Dentist Decides to Get Married*, *The Great Escape*, and the short story collection *I Work at a Cemetery*. Pavel Belyanski is currently defending his homeland against Russian aggression as part of the Ukrainian forces.
