Sööklaplokk - Aleksei Ivanov

In the hot summer of 1980, when Moscow breathes the rhythm of the Olympic Games, life in the pioneer camp Stormbird on the Volga is quiet and peaceful. The pioneers hold training camps, play football and tell horror stories at night. Young educators fall in love with each other, the river tram brings food to the canteen block, the pine forest exudes summer heat. But there is also a dark side to the summer bustle - something unearthly and blood-curdling is happening in the camp. Vampires are hiding among the pioneers. «Canteen Block» is the latest work of the very versatile and popular Russian writer Alexei Ivanov, about which he himself says: a simple and fun story about complex and serious things. The life of the pioneer camp and Soviet-era children's folklore play a very important role in this book, but it is also a story about the meeting of the meaningless rituals of a fading empire and the soon-to-come new era.
