Käpp pudelis - James Hardley Chase

"Julie, have you heard how they catch monkeys in Brazil?" he asked. "A nut is put in a bottle and the bottle is tied to a tree branch. The monkey grabs the nut, but the mouth of the bottle is too narrow to pull its paw out with the nut. You would think that the monkey would let go of the nut and get away, right? But it doesn't. It is so greedy that it never lets go of the nut, and it always gets caught. Julie, remember this story!"

Beautiful, impudent and amoral, Julie Holland, in her greed, will not even say no to a mink coat with the word MURDER written on the price tag.
