Publication of the History Museum of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR about Tallinn. With many pictures.
Tallinn is one of the older cities of the Soviet Union. The historical development of the city is an inseparable part of the entire history of the Estonian nation, which in the middle of many centuries has gone on in a heroic struggle against the German and Scandinavian invaders. The history of Tallinn bears witness to the ancient ties of the Estonian people with the great Russian people, their common struggle for freedom and independence. However, the real economic and cultural prosperity of the city began in 1940, when the Estonian people overthrew the power of capital, joined the fraternal family of Soviet nations, and Tallinn became the capital of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Tallinn's cityscape has preserved a lot of the medieval, which, interwoven with the new construction style, gives the city a unique look. The album presents examples from both the old city and the new, developing socialist city.
The main illustrative material has been selected from the funds of the History Museum of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR.
