Vaalad - Wally Lamb

Meet Dolores Price. She is thirteen and smart, but wounded and has said goodbye to her childhood. Like a stranded whale, she sits in her room in front of the television and spends the next few years pampering herself with the cookies, chips, and Pepsi that her restless mother supplies her with. When Dolores finally grows up to be a three-hundred-pound young woman, she is no stronger, and life is no easier. But this time, she is determined to prove herself and give herself one more chance before she gives up for good.
In this extraordinary coming-of-age story, Wally Lamb invites us on a wild journey through love, pain, and self-discovery with a heartbreakingly comic heroine. Dolores -- both fragile and sharp-tongued, so tough on love yet so uniquely lovable -- is as heartbreakingly real as our own flaws.
This book comes with a promise: you will never forget Dolores Price.
