1600 kõhtu - Luc Lang

A riot breaks out at Strangeway Prison in Liverpool, and the prison cook sees a brilliant business idea: since his house is located directly opposite the prison, he has a great view of what is happening, and he begins to sell the view from his windows to the press and other interested parties. As the rather Wagnerian events unfold, many strange things begin to emerge about the cook's life, secret passions and work in the prison canteen.

The novel won one of the second prizes for the Goncourt literary prize in 1998, received very good reviews from critics in France and was also very successful in terms of sales.
