The novel by Jan Kjærstad, one of the most original and award-winning writers in modern Norwegian literature, tells the story of the magic of letters and love.
The main character of the work is Cecilia, a type designer, a young woman with an unusual background and a promising future. Thanks to her rare sensitivity to all kinds of signs, she is unrivaled in her work in the advertising industry - until an accident occurs and her life takes a completely new turn. Signs from the scene of the accident gradually lead Cecilia to the man who becomes the love and inspiration of her life.
Cecilia's story of her journey to love has an extraordinary power of association, and the narrative is interwoven with motifs from ancient mythologies and short fairy-tale-like stories. An inspiring, charming and captivating novel.
