Lutsu «Spring» and Lutsu «Kapsapää» - at least these two books are known since childhood and remembered until the end of life. The heroes of "Spring", Toots and Kiir, Arno and Lible, Teele and Tõnisson, have long since left the frame of the book, they are taken as characters in new stories, they do not wear out or disappear, they do not change or age, they are seen in life itself. They are so human and so superhumanly singular. There are such heroes who have lived forever in the literature of all nations. For example, Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, the great soldier Švejk and Prince Hamlet, the noble knight Don Quixote and the pitcher Sancho Panza, Andres and Pearu of Vargamäe, Doctor Faust and the Jukola brothers. These figures have grown beyond the pages of their literary work, they themselves have become the source of new written and unwritten legends. They are called mythical heroes.
The most general characteristic of mythical characters is that they never age, die or really perish, they come back again and again as young, new, eternal. Literary fact becomes a wider spiritual fact in the people's memory through mythical heroes (Hando Runnel 1987).
Mandatory literature in certain classes.
