The writer's fourth novel deals with the ethical problems of modern rural life (more precisely, Virumaa), social memory and generational relations. The central place is the life vision of the elderly collective farm chairman Niglas Suurkas and the restoration of the old manor building. On the final page, we come to the phosphorite concern, which is connected to the witch's well that is the frame of the story, the need to preserve clean groundwater, which cannot have an alternative from the point of view of continued life.
