A Well-Kept Secret - Ellis Peters

In "A Well-Kept Secret," the adventures of Brother Cadfael continue against the backdrop of the civil war raging in England. Although the battles take place quite far from Shrewsbury, refugees come into the care of the monks there, and they bring with them many mysteries.

Brother Cadfael, Sheriff Beringar, and their new and old companions set out to search for a girl who disappeared in the midst of the war. However, it soon becomes apparent that they have stumbled upon the trail of a murder and abduction that took place years ago. During the investigation, Cadfael discovers that solving the mystery is not enough in this case - he also needs to figure out how to hide the revealed truth under a veil of secrecy again.
