Under strange circumstances, criminal investigator Harriet Vesterberg's best friend Lisa disappears. After some time, the body of an unknown man with traces of etching washes ashore in Lerviken. Then, a local fisherman with a penchant for alcohol disappears without a trace. Could there be a connection between Lisa's disappearance, the body that washed ashore and the missing fisherman? Harriet tries to unravel the mysteries.

At the same time as the investigation in Lerviken, preparations are underway in Landskrona for the European Union ministerial summit. All police forces must participate in securing the big event in addition to their daily work. A nationally conservative politician from Lerviken gets the chance to give the opening speech at the summit, whom Harriet's boss fully supports, hoping to capitalize on the approaching media attention and find relief for the police department's pain points.

We are introduced to a gallery of local residents, each of whom seems to have a hidden side that no one else knows about. The same applies to Harriet's sophisticated lawyer fiancé, Rikard.

“Shadow Play” is the second book in the “Lerviken Murders” series, set in the picturesque fishing village of Lerviken, and its clever but far from perfect protagonist, Harriet, will win the hearts of all readers
