"The Rocking Horse from Antwerp" won the second prize in the 1998 novel competition.

The author says:

The main action of the adventurous spy novel takes place in the early 1980s in a small African country, where the superpower interests of the USA and the USSR collide.

I defined the work as a pseudo-documentary-historical novel because the fictional action unfolds against a certain historical background, where there is no shortage of documentary data and real political events.

Udo Uibo says:

Lush fantasy, exciting fable, natural and fluent narration, excellent descriptions, firm composition, ability to create the impression of competence in many areas (politics, espionage, streets of Leningrad, seafaring, planting bombs, karate, African flora and fauna, the soul of Russian women who married negro presidents, etc.)

Excerpt from the book:

August feels that the icy breath from the sea rises higher and higher along his body. Already he can't move his legs, then his hands... And again, through the cold fog, which has risen almost to his eyes, August sees a little blond man galloping on a rocking horse, who, happily waving his hand, slowly fades into nothingness...

A thrilling and exciting novel by long-distance sailing captain Lembit Uustulndi, who lives in Saaremaa, which begins on the eve of World War II in Kuressaare. The intense activity is transferred from Leningrad to the Canary Islands, from the United States to Lemania, a corrupt African country. The intersecting interests of America and the Soviet Union are represented by LKA agent Thomas Thamerick and GRU agent Leonid Tamov. Exotic places, beautiful women and believably presented intrigues add color to the book. And every reader has the opportunity to find out little by little how the men of Estonia and Estonia are involved in the division of the spheres of influence of the great powers.
