In this work, amateur detective Ellery Queen assists her father, Police Inspector Richard Queen, in explaining the circumstances of two murders committed at a rodeo show.
Ellery Queen, known to all fans of the detective genre, is actually the pseudonym of American cousins Frederic Dannay (1905-1982) and Manfred Bennington Lee (1905-1971). Dannay and Lee began their literary career in 1928 by submitting the manuscript of their novel The Roman Hat Mystery to a magazine's crime novel competition. The novel was not awarded in the competition, but when it was published as a book in 1929, it became an instant success.
