Two boys are born on the same day - the poor Canty family grows by another member, Tom, and the heir to the throne, Edward Tudor, is born in the English royal house. Tom's childhood is spent on the streets of London, but he dreams of a better life. One day, while walking in front of the castle gates, he notices a prince walking outside. The prince invites Tom to his place and, noticing their similarity, he has the idea of changing clothes with a beggar boy in order to get to know his subjects better. So the prince leaves the castle dressed as a beggar, not knowing what difficulties await him.
