The author of the children's crime novel "The Mysterious Flower Catcher" is Mika Keränen (b. 1973), a Finn who is fascinated by Tartu and writes children's adventure stories in Estonian. "The Mysterious Flower Catcher" is his fourth book in a row, which tells the adventures of a secret children's society that deals with "forensics" in Supilinna, Tartu. This time, the children have to find out who is stealing flowers in Supilinna just when the Finnish president is expected to visit the city. The clever children set a trap for the thief, which he swallows with a hook. But this is only the beginning of the secret society's greatest adventure, because no one understands why the daughter of the Finnish president seems to be involved in the thefts. Based on Mika Keränen's first novel "The Stolen Orange Bicycle" (2008), a children's play of the same name premiered at the Estonian Drama Theatre in December 2010. The author's second novel, "The Hidden Silver Treasure Chest", received the Cultural Endowment Prize in 2009. Both books have also been translated into Finnish.
