"Letter to the King" is an adventure novel for young people. The protagonist of the story is 16-year-old Tiuri, who is waiting to be knighted. Tiuri lives in the country of King Dagonaud, where every four years worthy young men are knighted. Before the ceremony, the young men must fast for 24 hours and spend the whole night in a small chapel and think about the great deeds and responsibilities that lie ahead. They must not talk or pay any attention to what is happening outside.
The story begins in the chapel, where Tiuri prays with his companions. The young man hears a desperate plea for help from outside and opens the door. This is how Tiuri's adventure begins. He receives a secret letter from a wounded knight and promises to deliver it to a neighboring country. It soon turns out that the undertaking is extremely dangerous, as Tiuri is being chased by the red knights, who are ready to kill the boy in order to get the letter.
